Questions people ask
What is territorial taxation?
Under a territorial system a country taxes only income that comes from sources inside it. A resident of Panama who earns from foreign clients through a foreign company pays no Panamanian income tax on it.
Which countries have territorial taxation?
Panama, Paraguay, Costa Rica, Hong Kong, Georgia (for most foreign income of individuals), Malaysia (with exceptions), Uruguay (with a tax holiday for new residents) and several others. Rules on what counts as 'foreign' differ, so check each country page.
Is territorial tax the same as no tax?
No. Local income is still taxed at normal rates, and some countries tax foreign income once you bring it into the country. It only works as zero tax if your income genuinely comes from abroad.
